Shampoo for Celebrities (Yes, you!)

Personally,  never in my life would I have ever thought that I was actually using something (or anything at all) that a celebrity would use.  I did not know 1 year ago that John Masters Organics beauty products were often used by many celebrities like Jessica Alba, Alicia Silverstone, cast of Hannibal, Rosario Dawson, Oliver Thornton, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Georgina Chapman, Alexandra Richards, Nelly Furtado, and many more. I first learned  about John Masters Organics from Vani Hari, better known as “The Food Babe”,  who listed one of his products in the “beauty items that she personally uses”. You can click here to find out about this pro activist for better health. I have been using John Master Organics Shampoo for Normal Hair, Lavender Rosemary on and off for a year and I certainly like this product a lot!! And I recommend it 🙂

I also just learn that they have shampoo and conditioner for dogs! How cool is that!

Accessibility and Price

I have always bought it at whole foods, at approximately $15.99 for 8oz, but you can buy it through amazon which is $14.85 for 8 oz. You can also get it at John Masters Organics website itself. On their website it is listed at $16 for 8 oz and $26 for 16 oz. They also have a choice of 2oz for $6 to try it out. In Tampa, FL (where I live) there is a hair salon called Stasia’s Organic Element Salon that uses a lot of organic and natural beauty products and they sell some of John Masters Organics beauty products.

Ingredients and Company

John Masters Organics website states: “Caring about yourself and caring about the earth don’t have to be mutually exclusive. For over 20 years, this has been the guiding force in creating Super Natural Beauty for your hair, your skin, and your home. John Masters Organics grew out of my desire to create a luxury beauty line that treats the earth with respect.”

In relation to the ingredients that they use in their products, this is their philosophy: partnering with local farmers that respect the environment; they use wild-harvested ingredients, cold-pressed and steam distilled extracts; all the organic products they use are certified organic by companies recognized by the National Organization Program for the USDA.

All the ingredients must meet the following criteria (this list is a direct quote from their website)

  1. All products must be made with 70-100% organic content
  2. No sodium lauryl sulfate, parabens, DEAs, MEAs, or TEAs
  3. No GMOs (Genetically Modified Organism)
  4. No animal testing
  5. No artificial colors, fragrances or fillers
  6. All plant extracts and essential oils must be certified organic whenever possible
  7. All essential oils used must be steam-distilled and not extracted with propylene glycol – which kills the effect of the oils
  8. All plant oils must be cold pressed, not heat distilled – which kills the therapeutic properties of plant oils
  9. All ingredients must be proven to be beneficial to the hair or skin
  10. All ingredients must be harvested in an environmentally-friendly manner (wild-crafted)
  11. All ingredients must be bio-degradable as possible

This company is endorsed by PETA and the only animal products being used are honey and beeswax. Also, their packing uses minimal amount of ink possible and is printed on 100% recycled and unbleached paper.

Application and We-arability

The shampoo has a lovely smell that along with the look it can really be used for any gender. It leathers easily, it’s foamy, soft and my hair stays clean for the whole day (my hair gets greasy very easy)

Safety

It does seem that they do try to get the best ingredients for their products! The skin deep EWG Score is 2 (which is very good, low hazard) Whole foods lists them as premium body care product which passes whole food standards for being a safe product to use.

I hope this is helpful!

Con amor,

Wendy
